I was very nervous throughout the whole genius hour process. Everyday
that I had set aside to work on my project did not follow through. It
seemed as though something else (such as other homework or a social
event) came up. Slowly but surely I was running out of time to complete
my project. This was when I really started to panic and I found myself
rushing to finish it. I was hoping to have completed my project by the
middle of November however I was not finished until a month later. I do
know for a fact that I could have finished my project on time. It was all a
matter of time management, which is something that I am not too good
at.
One way that I am planning on improving this matter is by working
more efficiently when I get the opportunity. Throughout this project I
always had an attitude towards it because I knew I had a lot of time.
This caused me to procrastinate and to not work as hard as I know I
could have. I was easily distracted and would work at a slow, causal
pace. However, eventually I did not have as much time as I had before
and this is when my work habits changed. I started getting a lot more
work done in way shorter periods of time. If I had this same drive and
motivation throughout the whole process I know that I would have
finished when I was hoping to.
Overall I was very pleased with my presentation. I feel that I
provided all of the information I was hoping too and even more. Although
I do know that there is always room for improvement and I know what I
need to do to make these improvements.

Feedback
I asked two of my classmates as well as one of my friends outside of class to provide me with feedback in order to make some improvements before my project was complete. They all thought that it was well done and they were all excited to see the final product. However I noticed that they all gave me the same suggestion and that was to use more examples other than just Demi Lovato. One of my peers suggested to use a personal example as well. Automatically I thought that that was an excellent idea and I knew exactly what I was going to do. I decided to speak to my class about a friend of mine who had dealt with basically everything that I was going to discuss in my project. I knew that this would not only make it more interesting but it would also prove to the class that everything I was going to say does occur and that it was not just random facts that I found on the internet. I was very pleased with the feedback that I received and I know that it definitely allowed me to have a more powerful presentation.

Who Should I Get Feedback From?
Throughout this week I have been focusing on getting peer feedback. I was
planning on asking some of my friends who are not in this class. However I
started to think about this choice. I kind of decided that if I asked my close
friends they would not give me valid nor useful feedback as they do not understand
the project. I decided to wait until our next genius hour during English class.
This way I could ask someone from this class who better understands the whole
idea of the Genius Project. I feel that they will be able to give me more helpful
and useful feedback.
Today I am going to ask a few classmates if they will be able to give me feedback.

Peer Feedback Template
This is the template I have created for my peer feedback.
My Genius Project:
The topic of my project is to highlight the
importance of being yourself. I will discuss the main reasons why we feel the
need to change who we are as well as some of the dangers that can follow this.
My genius project is targeted towards anyone who has
ever felt the need to change who they are because they do not feel good about
themselves. This is very common for teenagers and more specifically teenage
girls. Therefore my project is designed for a teenage audience.
After presenting my project I am hoping that
everyone will be more educated and aware of very important issues in the world
today. These issues all lead to the insecurities of everyday people. The more
that we learn about these issues the more that we can learn how to deal with
them safely.
Do you feel that I have met my intentions and goals?

Peer Feedback
Today and over the next few days I am planning on asking my peers to give me feedback on my Genius Project. I am working on a template that states what my goals where and I am going to see whether or not I met my criteria. I will be posting some of the feedback on the blog. From there I will make adjustments to my work hopefully allowing it to meet my criteria more accurately.

Interviews with Demi Lovato
I was thinking of showing certain clips from both of these videos.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SzwtYW3z_a8
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7GAWGYbAjTQ
I feel that the second video is way more powerful and will allow my audience to realize how terrible bullying actually is. Although I am also worried that it is too powerful and may cause some uneasiness in the audience. I do not want to affect or upset anyone. Therefore after giving it a lot of thought I have decided to just present the first video as it is still powerful but to the point where everyone should be able to handle it.

Starting the PowerPoint
Today I am starting my PowerPoint project. I am starting off by planning out what each slide is going to be about. After I will decorate the slides in order to keep the audiences attention. I am also hoping to write some sort of casual speech discussing the different slides. I am hoping to complete this step by the end of this weekend.
